-You love a Christian message
What's in this episode?
Sophie Shear grew up the daughter of a Christian recording artist who was big in the 1980s and 1990s. She began singing professionally at 8 years old, so music and singing has always been connected to her purpose, but her own struggles prevented her from embracing her sound. She now helps other singers excavate and overcome their own personal issues so they can truly find their voice.
Sophie describes she sees a person's voice like a plant with three parts: the plant, the soil and the bedrock. The plant is the voice that everyone hears. The soil is the emotional stories, lies or truths that a person tells themselves. The bedrock is who a person really is. All of those things impacts the sound of someone's voice. Sophie helps singers excavate their true selves to find their voice and share their message.
Sophie also describes how she addresses voice-work with clients and sings some some hilarious examples in this episode.
